First out of the gate in the American Conference is the New York Crimson Giants! Big Red is proudly sponsored by Vandelay Industries. The Giants are an Attack first squad with some solid bangers, but they are lacking a true Enforcer. Star players are Attacker Connie Fuqua; Defensemen Vicial Munroe, Ben Busby and B.B. Pruitt; and Catcher Rube Breeman.
In the first match, the Crimson Giants take on the Chicago Spiders. Fuqua and Pruitt each notch two goals, Busby provides one and New York coasts to a 5-1 victory.
Big Red remains King of the Hill in the American Conference and now faces off with the Charleston Bruisers. The Bruisers have a powerful defense. Despite the clutching style, New York is up 3 Goals to 0 with 8 minutes left in the 2nd Period, when Vaught is called for Goal Tending. The Bruisers pound 2 Goals in by Stuart Strang in back to back launches. The 3rd Period is 20 minutes of Brutal Deluxe. The Giants survive a wild flurry in the Mad Minute to take the victory 3-2, but Defenseman Vicial Monroe is carried off on a stretcher with a season ending injury!
New York moves on to face the Dayton Horned Frogs. The Frogs have a balanced attack. The Giants continue their habit of fast starts and are up 3-1 with 4 minutes left in the 2nd Period, when the Frogs strike back. 3 Goals over the next 20 minutes and the Giants are knocked off. The new King Dayton will defend the hill against Chicago.
